Oficina C attend the course “Science for Public Policy: Strategies of Science Diplomacy and Scientific Advice”, from 8 to 11 of April in Montevideo, where more than 15 countries from Latin America, the Caribbean and Spain exchanged experiences on the role of science in public policy.

Oficina C participated in the course “Science for Public Policy: Strategies of Science Diplomacy and Scientific Advice”, held from April 8 to 11 at the Spanish Cooperation Training Centre in Montevideo.

This forum, centred on the role of science and public policies with emphasis on Latin America and the Caribbean, brought together more than 15 countries in the region to exchange experiences and knowledge.

Under the Mutual Learning Experience (MLE) methodology, the course promoted the collaborative analysis of experiences. In this framework, the officers Jose Luis Roscales and Cristina Fernandez Garcia presented the experience of Oficina C, which is positioned as an example of success in the integration of scientific knowledge in parliamentary work. Oficina C has succeeded in building broad parliamentary consensus and has developed a solid reputation within the sector.

Through this approach, the officers at Oficina C not only shared their experience but also had the opportunity to learn examples and approaches from other countries. This exchange made it possible to identify specific tools and methods for integrating scientific knowledge into public policies, both in the context of science diplomacy and policy advice

This training was organised by FECYT in collaboration with Uruguayan Agency of International Cooperation (AUCI from its Spanish acronym), the National Scientific Advisory Office ONAC from its Spanish acronym), UNESCO and the Spanish Agency of International Development Cooperation (AECID for its Spanish acronym)
